Keep Batteries out of Waste or Recycling Bins

Bayside Council is reminding residents that batteries should not be put in domestic waste and recycling bins.

Batteries are the leading cause of fires in garbage and recycling trucks, endangering the lives of staff and the community.

Batteries found in certain e-waste items, including computers or laptops, mobile phones, electronic gaming devices and toys, pose a serious risk if placed in waste or recycling bins. They should be taken to one of Council’s community recycling drop off events where they will be recycled or disposed of safely.

Household batteries can also be taken to one of Council’s regular community recycling drop offs. Dates and locations of these events can be found in your waste calendar or the Bayside Waste Services app.
