This week is Library and Information Week when we celebrate the contribution library and information workers make around Australia.
I would like to thank our library staff for the outstanding work they do curating collections for our diverse community as well as hosting a range of events and programs catering to the interests of residents.
Bayside’s libraries, located in Arncliffe, Bexley North, Eastgardens, Mascot, Rockdale and Sans Souci, provide free and equal access to a broad range of information and a variety of services and events for our community.
This would not be possible without the incredible help of dedicated City Life staff who ensure our libraries are safe and inclusive.
I would once again like to like to congratulate our librarian Samera Kamaleddine, who has been shortlisted for the Children’s Book Council Awards – Book of the Year for Young Readers. This is a wonderful achievement.
Mascot Library is also currently hosting a photographic exhibition of works by local photographers from our 2023 photographic competition. The popular competition will be back this year and details on how to enter will be made available on Council’s website soon.
Council is also ready to roll out a Garden Organics Service.
Properties in the following suburbs will have access to a new Garden Organics service from 30 September 2024:

Finally, it is National Tree Day this weekend and Council is hosting a community native tree planting day at Kyeemagh Boat Ramp Reserve on Sunday 28 July.
