Food Organics Service for Businesses
A food organics collection service is available to businesses across the Bayside local government area.
Separating food waste from general waste helps reduce landfill, improve recycling outcomes and support resource recovery.
NSW Government requirements will progressively require certain businesses to separate food organics from general waste. This generally applies to businesses generating weekly general waste volumes of approximately:
- 16 or more 240L bins, or
- 6 or more 660L bins, or
- an equivalent combination.
The staged implementation dates are:
- 1 July 2026: 3,960L or more per week
- 1 July 2028: 1,980L or more per week
- 1 July 2030: 720L or more per week

All businesses are eligible to start a food organics collection service now, regardless of whether they are currently required to participate under the NSW Government mandate.

All commercial properties must manage waste responsibly, regardless of who provides the waste service.
