Resilience

Resilience requires cities to be better prepared for and able to withstand acute shocks and chronic stresses.

The definition of a resilient city by Resilient Sydney states as:

“City resilience is the capacity of individuals, communities, businesses and systems within a city to survive, adapt and thrive no matter what kinds of chronic stresses and acute shocks they experience” Resilient Sydney, 2018.

Council has developed an Environment and Resilience Strategy. The strategy seeks to foster a robust community and environment, ensuring that everyone in our community doesn't just endure challenges but thrives despite them.

The strategy aims to foster a resilient community and environment where every individual, whether resident or worker, can not only survive but thrive, even in the face of challenges.

The strategy outlines our key actions for enhancing environmental sustainability and fortifying resilience against both ongoing stresses and sudden shocks.
