Smoke free zones on our beaches
Through our "Smoke Free Zones - Breathe Easy Trial" initiative we have established several smoke free zones including:

from the start of the Boardwalk at the Little Grand Parade up to the kiosk at Brighton Beach
-
Cook Park
-
Lady Robinsons Beach from Kyeemagh to Sandringham.
We have also limited the areas where you can use a charcoal barbecue. There are now four designated BBQ areas along our foreshore.
Authorised officers, police and health inspectors conduct regular patrols. People who breach the ban may incur a fine of up to $300.
Smoke free dining
Smoking is not permitted in any outdoor dining area.
This ban covers all forms of smoking including:
-
cigarettes
-
e-cigarettes
-
vaping
-
shisha.
The ban covers:
-
the area within 4 meters of a seated dining area on a licensed presmises or restaurant
-
the area within 10 metres of a place at a food fair (ie food markets, night markets, food trucks, school fairs) where food is sold or supplied for consumption.
Penalties of up to $5,500 may apply. NSW Health are responsible for administering the Smoke Free Act - to report a breach contact NSW Health on 1800 357 412.
Smoke free outdoor spaces
Smoking is banned from public outdoor spaces including:

within 10 metres of children’s play equipment in an outdoor public place
-
in open areas of swimming pool complexes
-
in spectator areas of sports grounds or other recreational areas during organised sporting events
-
at public transport stops and stations, including the area where people gather or queue to wait for the bus, taxi or light rail
-
within 4 metres of a pedestrian access point to a public building.
