Employment Programs
Student Programs
At Bayside Council we work with partner universities to offer student/graduate programs in the various disciplines across Planning and Engineering. Every two years we appoint a number of students and recent graduates to undergo a 24-month job readiness program, where they’ll benefit from on-the job skills training that include written and verbal presentation skills, report writing and how to run successful meetings.
Our Student Programs have been a huge success, with many students moving either into roles at Bayside or other exciting roles beyond the local government industry.

Refugee Work Experience Program
At Bayside we recognise how difficult settling into a new country must be. And then there’s employment in a foreign land to think about. No easy task. That’s why we have partnered with Settlement Services International (SSI) to offer refugees the opportunity to experience work in Australia, gain confidence and have a reputable experience to include in their resumes.
This paid work experience program enriches the lives of participants, but also enriches the Bayside team and the community as a whole.
Who can apply?
Genuine refugees are eligible for this program. Participants are paid for the duration of their work experience, and provided support during their time with us.
How to apply
Those interested should contact SSI to discuss these opportunities and their suitability. Visit www.ssi.org.au to get the process started.
