Author Talk with Randa Habelrih
Hear from award-winning speaker, author and autism advocate Randa Habelrih, who will share insights and discuss her book, 'Dealing with Autism'.
Through the book, Randa shares over 18 years of hands-on experience helping parents and teachers learn different strategies to support children and students on the spectrum.
Randa is also the founder of Autism MATES and MATES4U.

16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
The United Nations’ 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an opportunity to show support for those affected by Family and Domestic Violence and provide information and support to residents.

Community Walk Against Family and Domestic Violence
Bayside is inviting community members to join our Community Walk Against Family and Domestic Violence.
When: 23 November 2024, 10am
Where: From Ramsgate Surf Life Saving Club, Ramsgate Beach to Depena Reserve, Dolls Point
St George Police Area Command and DV community services/organisations will be in attendance to share information at the end of the walk, where there will also be a community BBQ.
Residents will need to meet at the Surf Lifesaving Club to join the walk. Attendees are encouraged to wear something orange.
No registration is required.
Child and Family DFV Sector Training Workshop: Understanding the Impact on Children
When: Monday 25 November, 9am
Where: Hillsdale Community Hall
1800RESPECT is available for free, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to support people impacted by domestic, family or sexual violence.
Bayside Annual Mayoral Student Award 2024
Nominations are open for the Bayside Annual Mayoral Student Award 2024.
Each school may nominate two students for the awards, recognising students who demonstrate kindness, a respect for others and go above and beyond to positively contribute to the school community.
Submit your nomination before Saturday 24 November at 5.00 pm.
Heat Ready Homes: Bill Busters Workshop
Learn how you can take control of your energy bill and reduce emissions this summer.
This engaging two-hour workshop will teach you how to better understand your energy bill, compare energy providers for dollar savings, and lower emissions, while equipping you with energy-saving tips just in time for summer.

Heat Ready Homes: Incredible Edible Green Curtains Workshop
Learn how to create your very own green curtain using edible climbing plants with this free one-hour workshop at Bayside Garden Centre.
This eco-friendly project helps naturally cool indoor spaces while reducing your energy costs, greenhouse gas emissions and providing you with fresh produce right at your fingertips.
Attendees will take home a "Green Curtain Starter Kit" including 1 edible climbing plant, so you can begin building your curtain at home right away.

Bayside Community Upcycling Challenge 2024
Bayside Council is inviting the community to get creative by transforming old items into functional, upcycled pieces, promoting sustainability.
Participants can enter in one of four categories:
Most Creative (13 and over)
Most Practical (13 and over)
12 and Under (Individual)
12 and Under (Schools)
To enter, create your upcycled item, then submit photos and a description of the project through the online form by 12 December 2024 at 11:59pm.
Projects will be judged on creativity, functionality, and innovation. One winner from each category will receive a prize.

Artist Expressions of Interest: Rockdale Train Station Public Artwork
Bayside is calling for expressions of interest from local artists to design artwork to be displayed along the Rockdale Train Station Concourse. The artwork will be one long artwork that runs across a series of windows on the concourse.
The artist will be required to provide a suitably detailed digital design and ongoing advice to enable a specialist printer to print and install the work on the inside of the shopfront windows.
Expressions of interest close at 11:59pm on Friday 29 November.

Christmas Lights Competition
Bayside is holding a Christmas Light Competition, calling on residents to light up their homes with dazzling light displays.
Residents who take up the challenge to light up their homes will be in the running to win a $2000 prize.
A $1000 prize will go to one winner from each ward, with the overall winner receiving an additional $1000.
Residents can nominate their own home, or they can nominate a home in the neighbourhood.
Nominations open on 29 November. The nomination form will be available once nominations open.

Bayside Council is presenting a series of free family-friendly Christmas celebrations featuring live music, food stalls, movie screenings and visits from Santa.

Carols by the Sea
Celebrate the festive season at Bayside's annual Carols by the Sea.
Join us for a lovely evening of entertainment, with performances by local choirs and bands as well a visit from Santa.

Walking Football
Regular sessions of Walking Football are now available to Bayside residents every Wednesday on the Jim Graham field at McCarthy Reserve, Rockdale.
This gentler adaptation of the game of soccer caters to older members of our community, as well as to those with limited mobility seeking a safe and enjoyable playing experience.
Time: 10am to 12noon
