Christmas Card Competition
We're looking for a new festive card design celebrating the holiday season for 2024.
Our Christmas Card Competition is open to all Bayside residents and local school children to hand draw, photograph or digitally design the Mayor’s 2024 Christmas cards.
Winning cards may also form part of our Christmas displays, printed materials and online promotions.
Entries are open until Friday 8 November.

Sustainability Workshops and Events
Bayside Council is presenting a series of sustainable fashion workshops and events for National Recycling Week 2024.
Upcycling Workshop “Junk Jewellery”
When: Saturday, 9 November, 11 am – 12 pm and 12 pm – 1 pm
Where: Eastlakes Community Hall
Discover how to transform otherwise discarded items into stylish accessories, proving that ‘junk’ can be turned into treasure.
Drop-in Clothes Mending Workshop
When: Saturday, 16 November, 10am - 3pm
Where: Arncliffe Youth Centre
Local artist Leah Giblin will guide you through practical sewing and mending techniques to extend the life of your garments.
Bayside Film Club: 'C'mon C'mon'
Join us for a free screening of 'C'mon C'mon' (2021) at Rockdale Library.
About the film: Johnny (Joaquin Phoenix) and his young nephew (Woody Norman) forge a tenuous but transformational relationship when they are unexpectedly thrown together in this delicate and deeply moving story about the connections between adults and children, the past and the future, from writer-director Mike Mills.

Author Talk with Alicia Thompson

Author Talk with Randa Habelrih
Hear from award-winning speaker, author and autism advocate Randa Habelrih, who will share insights and discuss her book, 'Dealing with Autism'.
Through the book, Randa shares over 18 years of hands-on experience helping parents and teachers learn different strategies to support children and students on the spectrum.
Randa is also the founder of Autism MATES and MATES4U.

Community Walk Against Family and Domestic Violence
Bayside is inviting community members to join our Community Walk Against Family and Domestic Violence. The walk is being held in acknowledgement of International 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
When: 23 November 2024, 10am
Where: From Ramsgate Surf Life Saving Club, Ramsgate Beach to Depena Reserve, Dolls Point
A community BBQ will be held in Depena Reserve following the walk.
St George Police Area Command and DV community services/organisations will be in attendance to share information at the end of the walk.
Residents will need to meet at the Surf Lifesaving Club to join the walk. Attendees are encouraged to wear something orange.
No registration is required.
Christmas Lights Competition
Bayside is holding a Christmas Light Competition, calling on residents to light up their homes with dazzling light displays.
Residents who take up the challenge to light up their homes will be in the running to win a $2000 prize.
A $1000 prize will go to one winner from each ward, with the overall winner receiving an additional $1000.
Residents can nominate their own home, or they can nominate a home in the neighbourhood.
Nominations open on 29 November. The nomination form will be available once nominations open.
Walking Football
Regular sessions of Walking Football are now available to Bayside residents every Wednesday on the Jim Graham field at McCarthy Reserve, Rockdale.
This gentler adaptation of the game of soccer caters to older members of our community, as well as to those with limited mobility seeking a safe and enjoyable playing experience.
Time: 10am to 12noon
