Lady Robinsons Foreshore Management Plan
This management plan outlines planned actions to sustainably manage the foreshore of Lady Robinsons Beach.
About the Management Plan
The foreshore of Lady Robinsons Beach stretches over 7 km from the Cooks River entrance at Kyeemagh to the Georges River entrance at Sandringham. The shoreline has been significantly impacted by historic man-made developments, leading to areas of persistent erosion and minimal beach area.
This plan has been developed to protect and enhance the foreshore through sustainable practices including sand nourishment, seawall upgrades, and ecological adaptations to ensure long-term resilience against coastal hazards. These actions aim to enhance coastal protection, improve public amenities, and support environmental sustainability.
This plan adopts a zoning approach, dividing the foreshore into three zones: Resilient (Zone A), Restore (Zone B), and Protect (Zone C). Each zone has tailored management strategies to address unique challenges in each of the different areas, ensuring effective and efficient use of resources.
The plan is expected to be implemented over a 50-year period, with ongoing community and stakeholder engagement to ensure its success.
Community Engagement
Active participation from the community and stakeholders is crucial for the success of this plan. Community members can have their say through public exhibitions, feedback surveys and information sessions.
The concept design for Zone C: Precinct 2 will be open shortly for feedback.
