Regulated premises - cooling towers
You must register with Bayside Council and comply with the Public Health Act 2010 and the Public Health Regulations 2022, if you have installed on your premises, a water-cooling, evaporative cooling, or warm water system like a cooling tower or thermostatic mixing.
You must also register with us if you plan to decommission or change an existing cooling tower.
Building owners are responsible for cleaning and maintaining cooling towers, we will inspect your premises on an annual basis to ensure health and safety standards.
There is a penalty for operating without registering with us.
Before you start your application, you will need to check to see that your address is in the Bayside LGA. The mapping tool will allow you to do an address or property search.
Supporting documents
You will need the following documents ready before applying:
- Details of other relevant approvals - e.g. DA / consent
- Supply proof of ABN / ACN. Refer to business.gov.au for details.
Apply online
Press the Apply online button to start the registration process, you will be asked to make a payment to complete lodgement.
Payments can be made by MasterCard or Visa which incur a service fee of 0.5%
Apply in person
Download and print the application form and lodge when completed to any of our Customer Service Centres.
Payment is preferred by cheque, money order, debit or credit cards (Visa and Mastercard).
Payments made using a credit card will incur a service fee of 0.5%.

Fees for 2023/24 are valid until June 30, 2024. Fees for 2024/25 are effective from July 1, 2024.
