Centenary Street Name Trail Restored

Wednesday 30 April 2025

Bayside Council completed the restoration of the interpretive signs along the WWI Centenary Street Names Trail in Daceyville just before ANZAC Day.

Construction of Daceyville started in 1912 when early street names were inspired by the European exploration of Australia.

This trend shifted with the outbreak of WWI and streets in Daceyville and neighbouring Pagewood were named to honour heroic servicemen and important military leaders.

In 2016 a WWI Centenary Street Names Trail, with signs was created to pay tribute to 17 heroes from WWI and WWII.

Council restored these signs to preserve the legacy of these servicemen. Each updated sign features a QR code linking to detailed stories and a downloadable map, offering deeper insight into the local history of the area.
