Message from the Mayor

Friday 14 June 2024

I recently had the opportunity to visit two playgrounds in Bayside that have re-opened after extensive refurbishments.

The playgrounds at Patricia Carlon Reserve in Bexley and Noel Seiffert Reserve in Sans Souci are now open for the community to enjoy. They provide exciting new facilities for families and children of all ages and abilities.

I am really pleased with the way our playgrounds across Bayside are being continually improved for our community.

I would also like to congratulate Council staff from our Early Education and Care Centres.

Our Early Education Gaarma Language and Culture Program received a Highly Commended Award at the 2024 NSW Local Government Excellence Awards on Thursday 6 June 2024.

The introduction of Aboriginal language, culture and history into our early education programs has improved cultural awareness and understanding amongst the children and their families.

I would like to thank everyone who attended the Her Way ‘Walkshops’ in King Street Mall, Rockdale to provide feedback on the improvements Council has undertaken as part of the Transport for NSW Safer Cities ‘Her Way’ program.

These projects to improve community safety around Mascot and Rockdale train stations are nearing completion and the positive feedback shows we are on the right track.

The next Walkshop is on Wednesday 19 June in Laycock Walk, Mascot and I encourage local residents to attend and provide feedback.

Council is also working on a concept plan for Booralee Park which is on public exhibition. I hope you will take the time to complete a short survey on the proposal available on our website.
