Storm Cleanup Continues

Thursday 3 April 2025

A king tide, paired with a storm surge from a low-pressure system off the coast caused significant damage to public infrastructure, shared pathways and private properties at Dolls Point that were inundated with water on Tuesday night.

Another storm surge on Wednesday night hit the area, but was not as severe as expected, causing minimal damage.

Council staff have been working diligently on site to help with clean up and have assisted in providing access to private properties which are currently accessible for residents.

Council staff have helped clear sand from private properties, as well as removing large amounts of sand from the road on Carruthers Drive, Dolls Point.

Council will continue to clean up and restore the damaged fencing, railing, footpaths, roads and stormwater drains and make other repairs to help ensure public safety.

Damage to public areas includes extensive damage to the shared pedestrian cycleway and pathways along the foreshore.

Gardens and green space along the foreshore have been destroyed and covered with thick layers of sand. Seating and public infrastructure has been covered in sand, with some accessways to the beach damaged and not accessible due to sand and debris.

The Sandringham Baths sustained some damage, and Council is assessing all the swimming enclosures along the foreshore to determine any required repairs.
