Bayside Council resolved to write to Orica requesting a comprehensive overview of the developments at the former Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) site be provided to Council every six months.

The first report should be available by July 2025 and will be published on Council’s website.

Bayside Council also notes the closure and demolition of both the Qenos and Indorama facilities in 2025, along with the imminent export of the remaining HCB stockpile by Orica, and the expected Orica Groundwater Treatment Plant shut down by 2036.

Bayside Council’s letter to Orica will emphasise Bayside’s interest in the ongoing management of remediation activities, and the importance of ensuring that best practice is adhered to throughout all aspects and stages of this significant land use change.
