Bayside Council is excited to announce a new Cadet Internal Auditor position, to support emerging talent in audit and risk management. This cadetship offers a rare opportunity to work alongside an experienced Internal Auditor while completing your studies in a relevant field. Key Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the Internal Auditor, you will be mentored in various key areas, including:

  • Assisting with developing strategic risk-based audit plans and audit programs to assess Council operations that will assist Council to mitigate risks that may impact Council’s business objectives.
  • Supporting the Internal Auditor in conducting risk-based reviews from the annual audit program across the organisation.
  • Supporting the Internal Auditor in undertaking reviews of compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Supporting in investigations, audits, and assessments to ensure ethical, effective, and efficient practices are maintained.
  • Preparing reports including suitable recommendations to support decision-making by senior leadership.
  • Assist and support in updating audit recommendations in the system including, tracking, follow-up, reporting and management of internal audit recommendations.
  • Developing relevant skills to conduct probity audits of selected tenders and projects.
  • Enhancing staff awareness of the benefits and value of internal audit through effective audit-related communication and initiatives.


What We’re Looking For:
 

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is currently undertaking a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance in 2025 and is in their penultimate or final year of study.
  • Demonstrates a strong interest in internal auditing, investigations or compliance.
  • Possesses excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Is keen to learn, adapt, and contribute to the team.

Salary Range: $1,194.60 per week, plus 11.5% superannuation
