Bayside Council is supporting residents who wish to take up cycling as their New Year's resolution by hosting a free, hands-on two-hour Bicycle Maintenance & Repair Workshop.

Bayside Council is supporting residents who wish to take up cycling as their New Year's resolution by hosting a free, hands-on two-hour Bicycle Maintenance & Repair Workshop.

Date: Saturday, January 11, 2025
Time: 2:00PM - 4:30PM
Location: Arncliffe Youth Centre

What you need to bring: 

  • your bike and a rag.

We will show you how to:

  • conduct a bicycle safety check
  • build your toolkit to care for your bike
  • keep your bike clean and lubricated
  • take your wheels and tyres on and off
  • fix a flat tyre – patch and change an inner tube
  • check brake wear and function

If time allows:

  • introduction to cable systems – cable maintenance, issues and barrel adjusters
  • brake adjustment – pad alignment
  • tuning gears – limit adjustments, indexing

This is an open age event (14 is the minimum age). However, children 16 years and under need to be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

This project is a NSW Environment Protection Authority Waste & Sustainable Materials Strategy initiative, funded from the waste levy.
